While walking in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a few weeks ago, I spotted an odd looking person walking towards me from across the street. They were very tall, leaning forward so much that it looked like their gate was defensive, by which I mean it was as if they were falling forward and using each new step to catch themself. Long, stringy, wispy, silver hair covered the sides of their face, exposing only their nose and thin lips. They appeared to be very old, but still spry. They veered toward me, as if with purpose. As they passed, they paused, threw their head back to clear the hair from their face, and looked fiercely at me, asking

"How's the battlefront?"

then continued on, not waiting for my reply, which was

"We're winning."
